Prologue
Having played cricket in winter league and summer league of Prague,organised by the Czech Cricket Union, under affiliation of ICC, the highest governil council of International Cricket, a bunch of Infoscions working in Prague, decided to form their own team for 6 a side winter league in Prague, played in an indoor gymnasium, inside International School of Prague. The mood was upbeat for the first time players to show their mettle in a game dominated by Indians on the world stage, but themselves, playing more for some relaxation and fun.
The Team
Satya, the team captain, and vice captain Pravin,are the only one having previously played in the winter league. It could be difficult to understand the rules initially, but the new players bring the freshness, variation and adapted to the conditions like a duck adapts to water. Kelwin, star performer of RBCZ; Prabu, the solution anchor; Mahesh, Trade Finance Specialist, Kurian, an avid sportsman formed the core team, with Vaibhav cooling the heels for visa purposes in India. Various people bring various dimensions, yet the only thing common, to do or die and perform to their level best, brought all of us together to perform to best in winter league.
Toss
The mood was upbeat, environs divine, team reached much before the start time, got into much needed practise, looked into the opposition, and got ready to ran into them. English college won the toss and elected to bat first
Bowling
Bowling wicket to wicket, maintaining a good line and length, Joshiley Dragons restricted English college to only 2 runs in first 5 overs and 0 runs in next 5 overs. Only the last pair having experienced Haris chaudhary managed to put some resistance and scored 26 runs. Dragons took 14 wickets in 15 overs, which put up a lot of pressure on the opposition.The fielding was superb as dragons effected quite a few run-outs with Pravin being electrical behind the stumps.
Batting
Having made to chase 28 runs in 15 overs, Dragons just needed to play down 15 overs, without loosing too much wicket. The base was provided with Pravin & Mahesh starting superbly scoring 55 runs from the first 5 overs. Kelwin & Kurian then blunted the bowling, and scored 30 runs, without loosing any wicket. Prabu & Satya consolidated, and had a good battng practise scoring 49 runs and loosing just 1 wicket. Overall, Dragons scored 134 runs, a complete dominance over the English college team.
Captain's man of the matchMahesh ,bowling superb line & length bowling and hard hitting with the bat, emerged as the top performer of the day.
Overall, the first match, was a nice start to the winter league in Prague. Joshiley Dragons announced themselves on the big stage, and hopefully, they would be delivering to the potential this team has.
